I’m at work right now, but on the way in I was listening to the radio as usual and I was struck by the fact that another fatal stabbing has occurred. What is going on in the world?
A 29-year-old father of three died after a stabbing incident in the Knowle area of Bristol on Tuesday.
The news article on BBC concludes with this statement: “The incident is the second stabbing in the city since a knife amnesty was declared last week.”
I guess the knife amnesty isn’t working that well, is it?
This chap’s family must be devastated. He was a father of three who are now orphans.
Something is not right when so many people have died as a result of stabbing recently. Why is it occurring in this cluster? Frankly, sometimes it makes me want to lock myself in my house and stay there, but then I guess the papers and media generally want the shock headline effect. Underlying all of this is real people and real families whose lives are now changed forever.
And there’s now a picture of the young man whose life was cut short by some deranged killer on a train – a train for goodness’ sake – a couple of days ago. I hesitate to post it here, but the picture shows someone who had a life ahead of him, intelligent and decent by the look of things. We shouldn’t forget victims, although in this day and age the truth is we tend to fairly quickly. After much deliberation I’ve uploaded his image – let’s hope anyone who ever sees it is reminded that a tragedy occurred to a young boy, full of hope.
