I write with the disappointed demeanour of one who has been betrayed. There. I’ve said it. Betrayed.
I bought a very nice-looking air-con unit today (the phrase air-con should have alerted me) and was expecting to be wallowing in the icy tendrils of refreshment such units can bring when the temperature is 32c+. Instead I find that it merely blows a coolish air around in the way cheap fans might do. How terribly not what I wanted.
Then again, it might just be that the unit takes a little while to reach its stride and my observations so far might be a little premature. We shall see later this evening when the unit has had a goodly while to reach its peak operating state. I shall report later and if the unit is a lemon names will be named! If it’s a keeper I’ll name names too, so that’s fair.
One thing I do know is that if I have to work tomorrow in this unfettered heat again I shall be making candles from the rendered fat that seems to accumulate during the day. Gross, I know, but let’s be realistic about the way it is.
I’ve registered a couple of domain names I’ll be using on my ecommerce sites and already plugged in the ecommerce code. I have to put real products on there, but that will happen over the next few days. I’ve been reading about various webhosts and it doesn’t seem to matter who you’re with, somebody is going to hate them and somebody is going to love them. I’ve been with 1 and 1 for a couple of years now and they’ve always done the job for me. I know some other hosts have a better reputation for customer support, but it is horses for courses and for the money I think they’re brilliant.

There’s my shameless little link to them, but I must say having had experience with a couple or three other hosts I have no complaints about my current host. I would prefer it if they had physical hosting in the UK though as I believe there can be benefits for search engine positioning if the host is physically located here.
Daughter’s gone to play out, son’s been out all day and is now at his pal’s for tea. My family’s growing up all the time. Roll on September when they’re back at school!
